Mpraeso: Freeman Kwafo, Augustine Asoma, and Bawa Muhammed have been arraigned before the Mpraeso Circuit Court for alleged involvement in illegal mining (galamsey) in the Eastern Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the suspects were apprehended on March 21, 2025, by some youth of Akoase in the Eastern Region and subsequently handed over to the police. The court has granted the accused individuals bail, and they are scheduled to reappear on April 25, 2025, as investigations continue.
The police brief mentioned ongoing investigations into the alleged release of two Chinese suspects who were reportedly arrested alongside the three accused individuals. The case continues to draw attention as authorities work to address illegal mining activities in the region.
