Tema: Mr. Romeo Elikplim Akahoho, the Executive Secretary of the Chamber for Local Governance (ChaLoG), has called upon the assembly members of the Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) to give their unanimous support to Mr. Ludwig Teye Totimeh for the position of Municipal Chief Executive.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Akahoho, who was a contender for the MCE role but lost to Mr. Totimeh, emphasized the importance of unity within the municipality. He highlighted the issues faced by the constituency, such as the lack of equitable distribution of resources, delays in government projects, and inadequate revenue funding, which necessitate a collective effort for the betterment of the community.
Mr. Akahoho pointed out the challenges faced by the assembly, including insufficiently trained staff, outdated data, poor tracking of economic activities, and a lack of taxpayer awareness. He urged the assembly members to address these issues by supporting Mr. Totimeh, whom he believes is well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the office effectively.
He expressed confidence in Mr. Totimeh’s capabilities, noting his competence and the endorsement from President John Dramani Mahama on April 23rd, 2025. Mr. Akahoho urged the assembly members to confirm Mr. Totimeh’s nomination, allowing the municipality to progress.
The assembly members, both elected and appointed, are set to vote on Thursday to confirm Mr. Totimeh as the first male Municipal Chief Executive of the TWMA since its establishment. To be confirmed, Mr. Totimeh must secure at least two-thirds of the votes.
