Swimming Star Marchand Breaks 200m Medley World Record

Accra: Swimming star Leon Marchand broke the 200 metre medley world record with his performance in the men's semi-finals at the World Aquatics championships on Wednesday. The French swimmer clocked 1 minute 52.69 seconds, surpassing the previous mark of 1:54.00 minutes set by American Ryan Lochte in 2011.

According to Ghana News Agency, Marchand expressed disbelief at his achievement, stating, "I can't believe it right now. I knew I would get close because I felt really good today, the preparation was good." Marchand, who secured four individual gold medals at his home Games last summer, is solely competing in the medley events in Singapore. He commented on his participation choice, "Probably the right decision, so happy to be here."
