Christians Encouraged to Strengthen Faith in Christ Through Persistent Prayer

Adaklu kodzobi: Reverend Richard Mawufemor Agbi, Pastor in charge of the Global Evangelical Church, Kingdom Life Chapel at Adaklu Kodzobi, has urged Christians to remain rooted in Jesus Christ and persevere in prayer. Preaching as the Guest Minister at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Edem Congregation at Adaklu Kodzobi, Rev. Agbi expressed concern that many Christians today place more faith in their leaders than in Christ, whom they profess to serve.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Agbi delivered a sermon themed 'Perseverance in Prayer', drawn from Genesis 18:20-32, Colossians 2:6-19, and Luke 11:1-13, emphasizing that persistent and biblically grounded prayer is essential to spiritual growth and victory in life. He noted that many prayers offered by Christians were ineffective because they lacked scriptural foundation and depth in Christ.

Rev. Agbi highlighted that 'ancestral strongholds and personal breakthroughs can only be overcome through persistent, fervent prayer,' urging believers never to relent in their efforts to seek God through prayer. He clarified that while the Bible does not promise a challenge-free life for Christians, it assures them of the power to overcome difficulties through faith and prayer.

He identified sin, unbelief, discouragement, and unforgiveness as major hindrances to effective prayer. He therefore encouraged the congregation to turn away from sin, practice forgiveness, and approach God in prayer with humble, faithful, and compassionate hearts, assuring them that 'God, as a loving Father, makes all things beautiful in His time.'

Rev. Agbi also encouraged the congregation to intercede not only for themselves but also for others, their communities, and the nation, drawing inspiration from the persistent prayer lives of biblical figures like Jesus Christ, Abraham, Elijah, and Hannah.
