Accra: Residents and business operators in Sogakope and its adjoining communities have expressed frustration over a prolonged power outage that disrupted economic activities and daily life.
According to Ghana News Agency, the outage, which started on Sunday, October 26, 2025, has affected many homes and businesses, particularly coldstore operators and small-scale enterprises that rely heavily on electricity for their operations.
Some residents who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) lamented the negative toll the blackout had had on their livelihoods, calling on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to restore power without further delay.
In response, the Ghana Grid Company LTD (GRIDCo), in a statement issued on Sunday, confirmed that the transmission line serving Sogakope suffered damage at about 16:01 hours, resulting in the outage.
According to the statement, GRIDCo's line maintenance team had been mobilised to repair the fault and restore power to the affected areas. 'GRIDCo sincerely apologises to all affected residents for the inconvenience caused by this incident,' the release said.
The company assured residents that stringent measures were being taken to complete the repair works and restore supply as soon as possible.
