Pupils Must Prioritise Discipline to Excel Academically – Rev. Martinson

Aboso: Reverend Stephen Martinson, the District Minister of Aboso, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has encouraged pupils in Victory Presbyterian Preparatory School to prioritise discipline to excel academically.

According to Ghana News Agency, the former Regional Manager of Presbyterian Schools, Western and Western North Regions, emphasized that nurturing discipline would enable the pupils to stay focused and achieve their goals. Rev. Martinson delivered this advice during the climax of the church's annual education week celebration in Aboso, located in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.

The theme for this year's education week celebration was 'Celebrating our heritage; Persisting in mission: The role of leadership in our schools'. Rev. Martinson explained that celebrating their heritage involves preserving the Presbyterian traditions and values handed down from their forefathers. He added that building on the foundation laid by their predecessors is essential for sustaining their legacy.

Rev. Martinson noted that achieving these goals requires a collaborative effort from stakeholders, including the government, local minister, teachers, parents, and children. He stressed that each has a part to play in reaching their set targets. Despite the significant challenges faced by today's youth, the Aboso district, under his leadership, is committed to empowering pupils to utilise their God-given abilities for good.

He appealed to the Church, philanthropists, corporate institutions, and Non-Governmental Organizations for support to enhance the school's learning environment. Mrs. Thelma Etuah, the Education Chairperson for Aboso District and the Clerk of the church, challenged the pupils to live exemplary lives and inspire the younger generation. She advised, 'Choose your friends wisely because good company can motivate you to give off your best in future'.

Madam Juliet Quaidoo, Headmistress of the school, praised the teachers for their outstanding commitment to education and urged church members to consider the school for their children's education for excellent academic guidance. The week-long celebration featured various activities, including drama, a quiz competition, a clean-up exercise, and a march through some principal streets in Aboso. They also visited stakeholders to seek support, and the whole school came together for a worship session.

Victory Presbyterian Preparatory School was established in 2005.
