Accra: The Federation of Muslim Councils (FMC) has extended condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, and bereaved families following Wednesday's fatal military helicopter crash at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region. A statement issued by the Federation and copied to the Ghana News Agency described the incident as a national tragedy of immense proportions, which claimed eight lives, including senior government officials and military personnel.
According to Ghana News Agency, the FMC expressed hope that Allah would grant the deceased Jannat-al-Firdaus (Garden of Paradise) and provide their families with patience, fortitude, and solace during this difficult time. The Federation conveyed its solidarity with the nation, offering prayers for comfort, strength, and resilience for those who have lost loved ones.
The statement further expressed a desire for the legacy of the departed to continue to inspire the nation. It included prayers for Allah's presence and support during this challenging period and wished for the souls of the departed to rest in peace.
Quoting the Holy Quran 2:156, the statement emphasized the belief in returning to Allah and included prayers for peace and stability in the country.
