Mahama, Olam Executives Discuss Food Security and Economic Growth in Singapore

Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has held talks with executives of Olam Agri and Olam Food Ingredients (ofi) in Singapore, with a focus on strengthening food security and advancing Ghana's economic growth.

According to Ghana News Agency, the meeting took place at Olam's headquarters and included key figures such as Mr. Sunny Verghese, Co-Founder and Group CEO of Olam, alongside senior executives like Mr. Neelamani Muthukumar, Group Operating Officer, and Mr. Saurabh Mehra, Global Head of Processing and Value-Added. Ghana's delegation was comprised of ministers and senior government officials.

During the discussions, the executives of Olam Agri assured that the company would continue partnering with Ghana to expand agricultural production and processing. Since starting operations in Ghana in 1994, Olam Agri has grown into a fully integrated food processing company. Its flour milling business supplies high-quality wheat flour nationwide, while its rice brand, Mama Gold Jasmine, has become a popular local choice.

Additionally, Olam is setting up Ghana's first pasta factory, which is expected to meet domestic demand and reduce imports. Through partnerships with over 4,000 local farmers, Olam contributes to rural development and job creation, employing about 95 percent Ghanaians in its workforce. It has also been recognized as a top employer in Ghana for four consecutive years.

The leadership of Olam Agri reaffirmed its pledge to deepen collaboration with the government, communities, and farmers in line with Ghana's development priorities.
