Accra: Mr. Listowel Agbesi, the President of the Labone Old Students Association (LOSA), has called on members to uphold the association's development vision by contributing regularly to support their alma mater. He stressed the importance of maintaining the association's role in promoting academic excellence within the school. He also urged members abroad and in the Diaspora to contribute financially or materially to support the school's development activities.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agbesi made these remarks during an interview following the 14th LOSA anniversary health walk in Accra. He highlighted that several year groups have taken on significant development projects to address the school's current challenges. The 10-kilometer walk, which commenced from the school's premises, aimed to foster community among members and discuss the school's development needs.
Mr. Agbesi noted that ongoing renovation of the science laboratory and the donation of 300 mono desks by the 1984-year group are examples of current alumni contributions. He also mentioned collaborations with non-governmental organizations for technology provisions and highlighted concerns about the school's sanitation and water issues, which are being addressed through cooperation with the Parent Teacher Association.
He expressed gratitude to members for their support during the 75th anniversary celebration, which aided the laboratory renovations, and thanked LOSA '87 for organizing this year's event. Mr. Agbesi encouraged diaspora members to contribute to enhancing the learning environment at the school.
Madam Milicent Adjei, Vice-Chairperson of LOSA National Council, announced future plans for each year group to undertake development projects and the intention to reward outstanding students at the next speech and prize-giving day. She praised the event's attendance and urged members to participate in future programs.
The event featured various games, a free health check, aerobics, and a food bazaar, adding a festive atmosphere to the occasion.
