Accra: The Federation of Muslim Women's Associations in Ghana (FOMWAG) has called on President John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang to fulfil their promises to the Muslim community. The association expressed its expectations for the leaders to accomplish most, if not all, of their commitments to both the Muslim community and Ghanaians as a whole.
According to Ghana News Agency, the association issued a release on Wednesday in Accra, congratulating the President and Vice President on their ascension to the highest offices in the land. The organization, which is women-based, extended particular congratulations to the first female Vice President of the Republic, describing her appointment as historic and well-deserved.
The statement highlighted that this milestone is a testament to the Vice President's dedication, leadership, and commitment to the nation's progress and well-being. It emphasized that her achievement is not just a personal success but also a monumental victory for women across Ghana.
The release further noted that her success serves as an inspiration for women in politics and young women and girls everywhere, demonstrating that no dream is too big to achieve. It signifies that the future of Ghana is one where women play an integral and decisive role in shaping the nation's development.
FOMWAG also congratulated the President for selecting a woman as his running mate and subsequently as Vice President. The association commended the President for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to the nation's progress and development.
As an organization advocating for the rights and empowerment of Muslim women in Ghana, FOMWAG expressed excitement about collaborating to build a more inclusive and equitable Ghana. The association looks forward to a future where every woman, regardless of background, can realize her full potential.
The release expressed confidence that the current administration will advance gender-related issues, particularly the promotion of education for girls, women's economic empowerment, and the strengthening of women's voices across all sectors of society.
