Sekondi-Takoradi: The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has confirmed Mr. Frederick Faidoo as the new Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the area. He secured 41 out of the 52 total valid votes cast.
According to Ghana News Agency, in his acceptance speech, Mr. Faidoo expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence placed in him to lead the government's agenda in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. He promised to work diligently to enhance local economic development as a catalyst for job creation for the youth.
The MCE stated that he would focus on collaborating with all stakeholders to boost Internally Generated Funds, enabling the city authority to execute development plans and improve sanitation in the Metropolis. Mr. Faidoo also pledged to strengthen collaboration between the Assembly and the Judiciary to enforce by-laws and ensure a well-regulated society.
He emphasized his commitment to ensuring public accountability through practices of good governance, including periodic community engagement and town hall meetings. Mr. Faidoo called on the media and the community to actively participate in addressing the Metropolis's challenges.
Mr. Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, encouraged the new MCE to work closely with all stakeholders to bring the desired development to the people of Sekondi-Takoradi.
