Gulumpe: The Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) has appealed for calm among residents of Gulumpe and surrounding communities in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region following recent disturbances in the area. Mr Titus Jawol, National President of KOYA, in a statement, extended sympathy to those affected by the incident.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Association wished for the injured speedy recovery and assured the affected families of its solidarity during the difficult period. KOYA, which advocates for peace and development among the Konkomba and other ethnic communities, urged the youth and all parties involved in the disturbances to remain calm, exercise restraint, and allow the appropriate authorities and community leaders to resolve any outstanding issues through peaceful and lawful means.
The statement said, 'Our progress as people depends on our ability to live peacefully with one another even in the face of disagreement. Let us remain calm and work together for the greater good.' It emphasized that dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation remained the most effective tools for resolving differences and promoting unity among communities.
It cautioned against actions, statements, or publications that could escalate tensions. The statement commended the timely intervention by key stakeholders including the Bono East Regional Minister, the Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area, the Konkomba Chief of Kintampo, Mr Nayon Bilijo, Security and Intelligence Agencies, the Gonjaland Youth Association, and KOYA's local executives in the Kintampo North Municipality.
It said their swift and coordinated efforts were instrumental in de-escalating tensions and restoring calm in the area. It reaffirmed its commitment to working with traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and youth groups to promote reconciliation, understanding, and sustainable peace at Gulumpe and beyond.
It also encouraged community members to continue fostering peaceful coexistence and constructive engagement, noting that true progress could only be achieved through unity and cooperation.
