Accra: Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Member of Parliament for the Keta constituency in the Volta Region, has shown support for the 2025 edition of Jubilee Radio's Hogbetsotso Health Walk by donating 400 branded polo shirts. The presentation took place at the Parliament House in Accra, underscoring a commitment to community health and participation in the Hogbetsotso Festival celebrations.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gakpey praised Jubilee Radio for its role in fostering unity, fitness, and social cohesion within the community during the Hogbetsotso seasons. He urged residents of the Keta Municipality and beyond to participate in this year's Anlo Hogbetsotso health walk, organized in collaboration with Jubilee Radio.
Mr. Gakpey emphasized that the Hogbetsotso festival serves as a platform for economic activity and community growth. He encouraged the public to showcase the rich potential of the Anlo people and seize the opportunities presented by the festival. He also commended the chiefs and people of Anlo for their peaceful celebrations in previous years, highlighting the event's role in promoting unity and development.
Mr. Innocent Gameli Adika, Manager of Kekeli Radio in Ho, the sister station of Jubilee Radio, received the polo shirts on behalf of the staff. He expressed gratitude to Mr. Gakpey for his support, which he believes will contribute to the event's success. The annual health walk precedes the grand durbar of the festival, attracting participants from across the Volta Region and beyond, with a focus on fitness, health, and social cohesion.
Some residents interviewed by Ghana News Agency expressed their readiness for the health walk and praised Mr. Gakpey's support for the event. This year's edition is scheduled for Friday, October 31, with participants gathering at the forecourt of Jubilee Radio at Vui before proceeding to the Aborigines Beach Resort for activities including aerobics and games.
Important dignitaries expected at the event include Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, Awadada of Anlo, Mr. Richard Kwame Sefe, MP Anloga, and Dr. Senanu Kwasi Djokoto, the National Deputy Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme. The theme for the Hogbetsotso 2025 Health Walk is: 'Step by step, we celebrate life, health, and unity - walking together as one for a brighter tomorrow.'
