Wenchi: Mr. Richard Kwadwo Adu, a prominent figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region, has lauded former Assin North Member of Parliament, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, for his demonstration of loyalty and commitment to the party.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agyapong's decision to act as a surety for Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund, underscores his dedication to the party. Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi faces four charges related to the Sky Train project, involving a $2 million payment for an urban rail system that was never realized. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and the high court in Accra granted him a GH?10 million bail with two sureties to be justified.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Wenchi, a stronghold of the NPP, Mr. Adu, who is also aspiring to be the Wenchi Constituency Chairman of the NPP, emphasized the importance of Mr. Agyapong's actions. He noted that the kind of love Mr. Agyapong exhibited is vital for the NPP to regain political power in the 2028 General Election.

Mr. Adu described Mr. Agyapong's decision to serve as a surety for Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi as exceptional in the political history of the NPP. He urged the party's leadership, members, and supporters to rally behind Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi during this challenging period, highlighting his role as a founding member in the former Brong-Ahafo Region.

Reflecting on the party's historical roots, Mr. Adu recalled that the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, dating back to 1947 before Ghana's independence, has endured political upheavals due to the unwavering love and loyalty of its members.
