Kadjebi: The office of the Scheme Manager of the Kadjebi District Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was barricaded by a group of individuals on the morning of September 15, 2025. The protest was led by Mr. Sampson Quarshiga, the Youth Organizer of the Akan Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).According to Ghana News Agency, the protest began at approximately 0738 hours, with the group expressing their opposition to the appointment of Mr. Emmanuel Klu as the new District Scheme Manager. Mr. Quarshiga claimed that Mr. Klu was unqualified for the position and alleged that the party hierarchy was not consulted prior to the appointment. He emphasized that there are more competent individuals within the NDC who could have been considered for the role.Mr. Quarshiga asserted, "There are more qualified persons within the party, who deserve this position." In response to the protests, Mr. Emmanuel Klu stated that the criteria for the Scheme Manager role do not align with those of the District Chief Executive (DCE) position, where factors such as ethnicity, geographical location, and political considerations are usually taken into account.Mr. Klu explained, "There are no specific criteria for the Scheme Manager position. Appointments in Hohoe, Biakoye, and Nkwanta South were similar to mine." Mr. Klu, who is also the Director of Elections for the Akan NDC, mentioned that he officially took over the office on September 11, just four days before the protest occurred.
