Accra: President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday convened a meeting with security service chiefs at the Jubilee House in Accra, gearing up for his upcoming visit to Bawku in the Upper East Region and Nalerigu in the North East Region. This initiative forms part of his concerted efforts to address and resolve the longstanding Bawku conflict.
According to Ghana News Agency, the President is keen on resolving the decades-old conflict by facilitating dialogue among the involved factions and engaging key stakeholders to foster peace. A statement from Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Presidential Spokesman, emphasized the President's commitment to achieving lasting peace in the region.
In line with these efforts, President Mahama has announced plans to make significant appointments to the security ministries within the week. These appointments aim to prioritize the conflict resolution in Bawku. The President reiterated his dedication to restoring peace in the area.
