Tamale: The Institute of Public Relations (IPR Ghana) has inaugurated its Northern Belt Chapter in Tamale as part of efforts to decentralize its operations and strengthen professionalism in public relations practice across the country.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Northern Belt Chapter, which covers the Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East, and Upper West Regions, is to serve as a hub for capacity building, networking, and mentorship for public relations practitioners in the area.
The ceremony was attended by communication professionals, government officials, academics, and students, providing a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on the role of public relations in local governance and development communication.
Mr. Donald Gwira, Vice-President of IPR-Ghana, speaking during the inauguration in Tamale, emphasized the importance of regional inclusivity in enhancing the profession. He stated that the new chapter would drive continuous professional development and uphold ethical standards in communication, especially within the public and development sectors.
He further stated, "This launch is a critical step towards our mission of promoting professional public relations practice across Ghana. We are confident that the Northern Belt Chapter will inject renewed energy and visibility into our work in this part of the country."
Mr. Abdul-Majeed Yussif, Coordinator of the Northern Belt Chapter, IPR Ghana, mentioned that the Chapter would focus on attracting professional public relations practitioners and students pursuing communication-related programs in tertiary institutions in the area.
