Accra: The 12th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Industrial and Commercial Workers' Union (ICU-Ghana) concluded successfully in Accra, with delegates renewing the mandate of the national leadership for another four-year term.
According to Ghana News Agency, the re-elected officers include Mr. Morgan Ayawine as the General Secretary, Alhaji Nureeden Al-Hassan as National Chairman, Mr. Paul Kofi Charway as National Vice Chairman, and Mr. Emmanuel Baah Benimah as Deputy General Secretary (Operations). The leadership team also comprises Mr. Samuel Ananga, Deputy General Secretary (Administration); Mr. Charles Kojo Yeboah, as National First Trustee; and Madam Jemima Fafa Seneya-Bentu, as National Second Trustee.
Mr. Ayawine, speaking on behalf of the leadership, expressed gratitude to the delegates for their renewed confidence, interpreting the endorsement as a nod for the continuation of their efforts. He emphasized the need for collective support and cooperation from all members to sustain the Union's progress and achievements.
He assured the delegates of the leadership's unwavering commitment to the Union's mission and the protection of workers' rights, highlighting the Union's role as a guardian of the economic interests of Ghanaian workers. Mr. Ayawine pledged the leadership's dedication to advancing workers' rights and the freedom to form or join trade unions.
In his call for unity, Mr. Ayawine urged both management and members to work cohesively for the Union's smooth operation over the next four years. He also extended his appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the conference's success.
