Government Introduces Bulk Passport Processing for Groups

Accra: The Government is set to facilitate the processing of passports for groups, associations, or organizations planning to travel. This initiative aims to minimize frustrations arising from cumbersome processes and to prevent disappointments associated with passport acquisition.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Government also plans to start a courier service to deliver passports to citizens after their application, alleviating the backlog of uncollected booklets at passport offices. This announcement was made by Mr. Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a news briefing at the Hajj Village in Accra on Tuesday. The briefing coincided with the establishment of a satellite passport registration center for the 2025 Pilgrims.

This center, along with others across the country, is designed to process passports for Muslims participating in this year's Hajj within a maximum of three working days, maintaining a standard fee of GHS500.00. Mr. Ablakwa mentioned that groups seeking such mobile services should apply to the Ministry for access.

He emphasized that the initiative aims to simplify the passport application process, enhancing efficiency and reducing stress. It also ensures that the quality and security of passports are upheld, preventing the issuance of multiple passports under the same names.
