GJA Election: Presidential Candidate Charles Mawusi Pledges All-Inclusive Administration


Sunyani: Mr Charles Yao Mawusi, a presidential candidate contesting the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) national election, has pledged an inclusive administration to build on the prospects of the Association.



According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Mawusi emphasized the significance of unity, stating that it is essential for journalists to come together to rebrand themselves and the Association. He shared this vision while interacting with Association members in Sunyani ahead of the GJA national and regional elections scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025. He highlighted the importance of collective action in ‘rebuilding the image of the association’.



Mr Mawusi outlined plans to decentralize the operations of the GJA, ensuring that every region has fully functional offices. He also prioritized enhancing the general welfare of journalists across the country. A comprehensive welfare policy is among his initiatives, which includes support for both active members and retirees. Additionally, Mr Mawusi intends to establish savings and loan schemes for the members.



He acknowledged the unionization of the GJA and reaffirmed his commitment to securing a bargaining certificate for the association. Mr Mawusi asserted that journalists deserve improved conditions and emphasized the need to secure the right to bargain for fair salaries and conditions of service for members.
