Mccarthy hills: The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the early hours of Thursday conducted a special operation at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality. The operation was based on intelligence gathered concerning the illegal stay of some foreign nationals in the area, with some individuals reportedly trafficked into the country and coerced into cyber fraud by their facilitators.
According to Ghana News Agency, an official statement signed by Mr. Michael Amoako-Atta, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration and Head of Public Affairs, revealed that about 50 Nigerians have been detained so far. Among those taken into custody is the landlord of the apartment where the alleged illegal activities were taking place.
The statement further mentioned that the public would be updated in due course on the outcome of the operations and subsequent investigations. The GIS emphasized their commitment to ensuring the legality and safety of all residents within the municipality and warned against any illegal activities that compromise the country's integrity and security.
