Finance Minister to Present Economic Report as Parliament Convenes

Accra: Parliament is scheduled to convene at 1200 hours on Thursday, according to Speaker Alban Bagbin. The Minister of Finance will present a detailed report on revenue, providing insights into the current state of the economy, projections, and future plans.

According to Ghana News Agency, Deputy Minister Thomas Apem Darko revealed that the Finance Minister's presentation will cover the state of the economy since the government took over in January, developments up to the present, and future projections. The presentation is expected to provide a comprehensive narrative about the nation's economic trajectory, addressing strategies for dealing with inflation and other economic factors.

In a related development, the reintroduction of road tolls is anticipated to progress once Parliament resumes, with a 21-sitting-day timeline for the bill to become law. Mr. Ampem Darko indicated that this timeline suggests the process may conclude by the end of the year.

However, in a surprise move, the Minority Caucus has announced plans to boycott the presentation of the 2025 mid-year budget review. NPP MP Ekow Vincent Assafuah stated that the Minority will not participate in the presentation.
