Kumasi: The Design and Technology Institute (DTI) together with the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) have launched the Precision Quality Collaboration to strengthen Ghana’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and livelihoods landscape.

According to Ghana News Agency, the collaboration aims to advance shared precision quality at both institutions, impacting relevant skills training. Through this partnership, the institutions will develop a competency-based curriculum that can be integrated into the formal training pedagogy, allowing learners to benefit from industry-aligned skills.

The DTI has retooled the Carpentry, Upholstery, Fashion Design, Welding, and Fabrication Departments of KTI as part of the collaboration. Ms. Constance Swaniker, Founder and President of the Design and Technology Institute, explained that the upgraded facilities would facilitate the integration of the precision quality curriculum and ethos into KTI’s academic environment, contributing to Ghana’s broader youth employability agenda. These improvements, she assured, would expand access for KTI students, DTI Precision Quality Interns, and learners from other institutions and unemployed youth in the surrounding communities.

Ms. Swaniker noted that KTI, being one of the biggest pre-tertiary TVET institutions in Ghana with over 4,000 students, faces pressure on assets. She emphasized that without assets, the quality of teaching and learning in TVET institutions is compromised. She believed the initiative, grounded in global best practices, industry-aligned curricula, cutting-edge equipment, and applied research entrepreneurship training, sets a new national benchmark for innovation, skills development, and workforce readiness in Ghana.

Mr. Gabriel Kingsford Osei, Principal of Kumasi Technical Institute, expressed appreciation to DTI for the collaboration and retooling of the selected departments. He pledged that the school would use the tools to train students for updated skills that could lead to job readiness in the industry. The Principal emphasized that precision quality was not merely a concept but a commitment to doing things right the first time and at all times, a mindset that values consistency, discipline, and continuous improvement, which defines successful professionals and resilient institutions.

Mr. Osei assured that learners would be empowered not only with technical expertise but also with confidence, communication, and creativity to thrive in every environment they find themselves in. He urged students to embrace the opportunity with diligence and purpose to drive the transformation agenda.
