Twifo atti-morkwa: To enhance road safety in Twifo Atti-Morkwa District, Mr. Joseph Arthur, a road safety officer, has urged religious leaders, traditional authorities, and media organisations to actively promote road safety awareness in their communities.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Arthur emphasized the influential roles these community leaders play and urged them to use their platforms to raise awareness and help curb the alarming rate of road accidents in the district. Mr. Arthur made the appeal during a collaborative outreach programme involving the District Directorates of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), and the Ghana National Fire Service. The programme aimed to educate drivers and passengers on essential road safety practices and fire prevention measures.
The initiative seeks to significantly reduce the incidence of road accidents and fire outbreaks in the area. According to Mr. Arthur, research has shown that most road crashes, fires, and related disasters are primarily the result of human error. He, therefore, urged the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution in their daily activities.
Supporting the campaign, Mr. James Kweku Pra, NADMO District Director, advised residents to handle electrical appliances with care and called on drivers to adopt responsible driving habits to promote safety on the roads.
