Sekondi: Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), has unveiled his strategic vision for the Ghana Navy during a five-day visit to the Western Naval Command at Sekondi in the Western Region. Speaking during the unveiling, he emphasised on the importance of maritime security, force readiness, professional development, support for the blue economy, and international partnerships. He called for discipline and teamwork among personnel to help protect the country's maritime sector.
According to Ghana News Agency, Rear Admiral Bessing acknowledged the existing challenges faced by personnel of the Ghana Navy, but praised them for their resilience and loyalty to the nation. As part of the visit, the CNS toured key locations including, the Forward Operating Base at Ezinlibo in the Jomoro municipality, Jaway Wharf, Navy Lodge, Ghana Navy Supply Base, Issah Yakubu Villa at Kweikuma, Sekondi.
He was accompanied by Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Commodore E. Osei, Flag Officer Commanding Naval Logistics, Commodore BB Abdul, Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore SB. Nyam, the Flag Officer Commanding Riverine Command and Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Operations/Training), Commodore R. Bagoniah, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Policy and Plans), and staff officers from the Naval Headquarters.
