Chainsaw Operators Murder Two Timber Guards at Mpamso Forest

Sunyani: Two timber guards of the ADRAS Timber Company Limited at Nsuhia in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region have been murdered by some aggrieved illegal chainsaw operators. The attackers, numbering about 200 and armed with firearms, machetes, and other offensive instruments, also set fire to a Toyota pickup vehicle with registration number GT 3079-17 belonging to the timber company.

According to Ghana News Agency, the deceased, Sani Aliyu, 34, and Ibrahim Musa, 35, were on duty at the Mpamso forest near Nsuhia when the attackers stormed the area. A statement issued and signed by the Bono Regional Police Command indicated that the bodies have been deposited at the Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Based on information, the Police visited the scene and found the bodies with multiple gunshot wounds, approximately 100 meters apart. Investigations are ongoing, and the public has been cautioned against acts of lawlessness.
