Sunyani: Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, has directed the Sunyani Area of the National Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) to urgently address the intermittent power outages affecting parts of the region. The Minister expressed concern about the political implications of these power failures and emphasized the need for proactive measures from NEDCo.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Akwaboa highlighted the importance of improving communication with the media and the public. During his visit to the company’s power plant in Sunyani, he tasked NEDCo with resolving the technical issues causing the outages. He clarified that the situation was not related to ‘dumsor’ but rather technical challenges that need immediate attention.
Mr Akwaboa questioned the recurrence of these challenges by 2025 and dismissed claims that the power issues were politically motivated. He urged media outlets to report responsibly to avoid tarnishing the government’s image.
The Sunyani Area Manager of NEDCo, Mr Eugene Odoi Addo, assured the public that engineers from Tamale had arrived to assist in resolving the technical challenges and promised a swift resolution to the power supply issues.
