Ahanta Chiefs Appreciate Mahama’s Appointment of Nelson as Minister

Takoradi: A section of Ahanta Chiefs have expressed appreciation to the John Dramani Mahama administration for the appointment of Joseph Nelson as the Minister for the Western Region. The Chiefs, led by Nana Kwasi Agyeman IX, the Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, emphasized that Nelson's appointment is seen as a significant step towards addressing the infrastructure and development challenges in the region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Chiefs articulated their confidence in Nelson, highlighting his roots in the Western Region which, they believe, equips him with a better understanding of local issues. During a press conference on Monday in Takoradi, they stated, 'Joseph Nelson is our own, born and bred in the Western Region and so, he can relate with our problems and challenges, and he will do his best to advance development.'

Nana Agyeman IX commended Nelson for his respectful and disciplined demeanor and encouraged him to maintain these qualities in his new role. He conveyed the pride and happiness of the Ahanta people for the recognition given to the region and assured the President of the chiefs' and people's cooperation to ensure that the new Minister succeeds in delivering substantial infrastructure and social intervention projects.

Joseph Nelson's previous roles include serving as the Municipal NDC executive of Ahanta land and as the Regional Secretary of the party, experiences which the Chiefs believe will aid him in his new ministerial position.
