Anlo-Afiadenyigba: Togbi Kadzahlo Drabese IV, Dufia and Paramount Chief of Anlo-Afiadenyigba, has extended his congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama on his recent electoral victory. In his message, Togbi Kadzahlo Drabese IV applauded the President for conducting a commendable campaign and appreciated his consideration of individuals from the Volta Region in forming his government, a decision the chief believes will enhance the region's development prospects.
According to Ghana News Agency, Togbi Kadzahlo urged the President to prioritize the development of better road networks across the country. He emphasized the urgent need for improved roads connecting Metrikasa, Weta, and Anlo Afiadenyigba to Havedzi, describing the current state of these roads as perilous. Togbi highlighted that for the President's 24-Hour Economy initiative to succeed, robust road networks are essential to connect farming communities with urban areas, thereby bolstering the local economy.
The paramount chief stressed that such infrastructure improvements are vital for supporting the President's 24-hour Economy Policy and other major initiatives, ensuring safer travel for residents.
In August 2024, President John Dramani Mahama was enstooled as an Infrastructure and Developmental Chief under the title 'Togbi Dunenyo I' by Togbi Kadzahlo IV and Togbi Akamu V during his campaign visit to the area. The enstoolment is seen by the people of Anlo Afiadenyigba as a motivation for Mr. Mahama to prioritize infrastructural development in the Anlo area, particularly focusing on the Havedzi-Afiadenyigba-Metrikasa-Weta roads.
The Havedzi-Afiadenyigba-Metrikasa road is a crucial link between the coastal district of Keta, Anloga, and the farming regions of Ketu North and Ketu South. Its deteriorating condition over the years has prompted residents to urge both previous and current governments to address the issue to facilitate improved transportation and boost trade in the area.
