Agrihouse Leads Ghana’s Push to Position Cassava as the Next Gold Mine

Accra: Ghana will take centre stage at the International Cassava Fair (FIMAN) 2025, in Paranava, Brazil, Agrihouse Foundation Executive Director Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa has said. The global platform is dedicated to highlighting the cassava crop and its role in industrialization, trade, and food security.

According to Ghana News Agency, a press release by the Foundation said it was working in partnership with Podium Alimentos to ensure a strong Ghanaian representation at the world's largest event dedicated to cassava and its related industries, scheduled for November 25 to 27, 2025. It noted that although cassava was a staple crop with immense agricultural and economic potential, it remained underutilized as a commercial commodity in the country.

'With rising global food demands, however, experts say the time has come to prioritize cassava as a standardized, tradable export product', it said. 'It is imperative that we transform cassava into a standardized commodity that can be traded and exported on a large scale to boost national revenues, much like we prioritize commodities such as gold, crude oil, and cocoa,' it added.

The release said that as Ghana's representative for FIMAN, Agrihouse was creating pathways for local enterprises to connect with global investors and development partners eager to explore opportunities in the cassava value chain. Ahead of the event, Agrihouse is mobilizing farmers, processors, input suppliers, Farmer-Based Organizations (FBOs), aggregators, and agribusiness professionals to participate in the event.

Participants would engage in business-to-business meetings, panel discussions, exhibitions, farm visits, and educational tours, all designed to foster collaboration, knowledge transfer, and business deals, with the view to driving innovation in Ghana's cassava sector. It said, Ghana's active involvement in FIMAN 2025 promised to create pathways for businesses and farmers to thrive in the international market. Agrihouse encouraged individuals and organizations to sign up early to secure their participation.
