Agortorme Youth Celebrate New Year with Community Health Walk

AGORTORME: Hundreds of young people from Agortorme in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region welcomed the New Year with a large-scale health walk, infusing the streets with energy and vitality. The event took place on the morning of Wednesday, January 1, in collaboration with the youth of Afuta, also within the municipality.

According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative was praised by Torgbui Tsifokpe III, the Chief of Afuta, who commended the youth for their efforts in promoting health and unity. He urged them to continue engaging in positive activities while remaining vigilant about safety during the celebrations. "I fully support any positive initiatives you undertake, but I urge you to celebrate responsibly and avoid getting into trouble," Torgbui advised.

The health walk featured participation from various youth groups in the area, including the ABC Brothers and the Kings and Queens Cottage. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie, as participants chanted, sang, and laughed while walking. Mr. Freedom Lavoe Zigatoe, Chairman of Kings and Queens Cottage, hailed the event as a success. "This event showcases the unity among our youth. I am optimistic that future events will be even bigger and better," he stated.

Christian Ocloo, popularly known as Coachito and one of the event's organizers, expressed his gratitude to all participants. "The turnout was amazing, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. This sets the tone for more collaborative activities in the future," he noted. Following the health walk, contests such as sack races and lime-in-spoon were held to further foster community spirit.

The walk and its subsequent activities have established a positive precedent for community engagement in Agortorme, with participants eager for more initiatives in the coming months.
