Ablekuma north: The Ghana Police Service has interdicted a police officer who allegedly assaulted a journalist covering the election rerun in the Ablekuma North Constituency. 'We monitored a viral video in which one of our officers is seen assaulting a reporter. The officer concerned has been withdrawn from the ongoing election duty at Ablekuma North,' the police said on Friday.
According to Ghana News Agency, a news brief issued by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Richmond Mensah of the Police Public Affairs Unit, stated that the interdiction was in line with internal disciplinary procedures. The officer had been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation.
The brief assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the matter, and further updates would be communicated.
