Odomase: The 2025 edition of the 'Meko Bono' Festival will culminate on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, the organisers announced on Thursday. Celebrated annually in August, the festival showcases the cultural heritage of the Bono Region's chiefs and people, aiming to fortify familial connections.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Seth Kofi Yeboah, Deputy Director and Manager in-Charge of Operations at Bono Fie, the festival organisers, stated that this year's event began on Monday, August 4, 2025, featuring a range of activities. These include the festival's official launch, an intercity football competition, a clean-up exercise, a gospel rock show, a regional tour, and health screening and blood donation exercises, alongside traditional dances and performances.
The festival will also host the 'Bono Hemaa Beauty Pageant', a street carnival, and an artist night. Mr. Yeboah noted the significant public interest and participation in the 2025 celebration, highlighting its widespread appeal and engagement.
He remarked on the festival's trending status on platforms like TikTok, emphasizing the community's enthusiastic embrace of the event, which is considered one of the best so far. Mr. Yeboah detailed that a grand durbar will take place at Odomase Senior High School Park, with attendance expected from high-profile guests, including chiefs, queens, politicians, and government officials.
He added that the festival continues to evolve annually, garnering admiration and recognition throughout the region, and encouraged participation from the Bono people and all Ghanaians to help promote the region's rich cultural traditions.
