Fire Commander Urges Public to Adhere to Safety Measures

Akatsi: Divisional Officer Grade III (DO III) Mr Alderson Saviour Coffie, the Akatsi South Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, emphasizes the critical importance of adhering to safety precautions to prevent damage to property and loss of life. He highlighted the need for safety education centered on prevention, awareness, emergency preparedness, and community resilience as a fundamental strategy.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Saviour Coffie's remarks were made during an address to a group of disaster victims from Akatsi South. These individuals had recently received financial support from the Parliament of Ghana, facilitated by Mr Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South. Mr Saviour Coffie stressed that educating the public on safety protocols is a key step in preventing accidents and injuries.

He noted, "By prioritizing safety education, communities can become more resilient and better equipped to handle crises." This emphasis on community preparedness is seen as vital in ensuring that individuals and groups are ready to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Furthermore, Mr Saviour Coffie urged everyone to adopt safe housekeeping practices to avoid potential dangers. He also appealed to commercial establishments, including shops, schools, and churches, to comply with standard fire safety precautionary measures.

Statistics provided to the Ghana News Agency indicated that there were 31 disaster-related cases reported from January to August, underscoring the need for heightened awareness and proactive safety measures within the community.
