Berekum: Mr. Osam Pinanko, Chairman of the Berekum Youth for Accountability, a youth group focused on the development of the Berekum Municipality in the Bono Region, has issued a public appeal for support to complete the Berekum library project. The call for assistance comes as the construction of the library, initiated approximately five years ago, remains unfinished due to financial constraints.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Pinanko emphasized that the library project is around 70 percent complete but has stalled due to insufficient funding. He urged non-governmental organizations, philanthropic groups, and affluent individuals to contribute, noting that Berekum residents living abroad have already donated books to help furnish the facility. The remaining tasks include minor works such as painting, installing louvers, and setting up lighting. Mr. Pinanko stressed the importance of these contributions, stating that the completed library would significantly enhance educational opportunities in the area.
Additionally, Mr. Pinanko shared the group's broader vision, which includes rehabilitating the non-functional public toilet at the Berekum main lorry station. He extended an appeal for public assistance in realizing this goal as well.
