West Mamprusi NCCE Commemorates Independence Day with School Quiz Competition

Walewale: The West Mamprusi Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a quiz competition for four basic schools in the municipality as part of the activities to mark Ghana's 68th Independence Day celebration. The event, held under the theme 'Ghana's Future: Our Collective Responsibility', aimed to engage students in learning about the 1992 Constitution in an entertaining manner.

According to Ghana News Agency, the participating schools included Marakaz E/A JHS, Nazoori (MA 'B') JHS, Suguru R/C JHS, and Ebenezer Presbyterian JHS. Mr. Imoro Issahaku Thomas, the West Mamprusi Municipal Director of NCCE, emphasized that the competition was designed to promote the use of the NCCE's Constitution game board and motivate students to join the NCCE Civic Education Clubs.

Mr. Wilberforce Zangina, North East Regional Director of NCCE, highlighted the significance of civic education as a strategy for fostering awareness of democratic values, patriotism, and citizen participation in governance. The quiz competition served as a platform to instill these values among young students.

The competition concluded with Ebenezer Presbyterian JHS emerging as the winners with 43 points. Marakaz JHS secured the second position with 42.5 points, while Suguru R/C JHS and Nazoori (MA 'B') JHS followed with 42 and 36 points, respectively. All participating schools were awarded certificates, exercise books, and pens as tokens of appreciation for their involvement in the event.
