Adenta: An Adenta Circuit Court has sentenced a 32-year-old vulcanizer to 15 years' imprisonment for robbing a rider of his motorbike. Issiful Bilal, charged with robbery, pleaded guilty before the court on September 25, 2025. The court convicted him on his own plea but deferred his sentence to today.
According to Ghana News Agency, the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, informed the court that the complainant, Razal Mukiala, was a commercial motorbike rider residing in Adenta New Site. Chief Inspector Lanyo detailed that on September 16, 2025, at about 10:30 pm, Mukiala was riding his Royal Motorbike with registration number M-25-WX1145 at Ritz Junction, Madina. While transporting passengers, Bilal and his accomplice, who is currently at large, conspired to rob Mukiala by luring him to take them to Adenta New Legon.
Upon reaching a section of the road near Pinnacle Estate at Adenta Commandos, Bilal pretended that his mobile phone had fallen and asked Mukiala to stop. Bilal and his accomplice then alighted, brandished a knife, and threatened Mukiala, subsequently robbing him of his motorbike. The court heard that the duo sat on the motorbike and sped off.
Prosecution revealed that Mukiala had installed a sensor on the motorbike, which he activated, causing the bike to halt a few meters away. Mukiala raised an alarm, prompting nearby individuals to gather at the scene. Bilal, sensing danger, pushed Mukiala into a gutter and attempted to smash his head with a stone. Bilal then falsely claimed ownership of the motorbike, but witnesses intervened, leading to his arrest while his accomplice fled.
Bilal later guided the police to Agbogboloshie and Komba in an attempt to apprehend his accomplice, but the accomplice remained at large, prosecution said.
