Volta Regional Minister Discusses Implementation of 24-Hour Economy with Local Leaders

Accra: The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, recently convened a strategic meeting with all Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the region to discuss the implementation of the Government's 24-Hour Economy Programme along with other key developmental initiatives. The meeting provided an opportunity for dialogue on how local Assemblies can collaborate to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and enhance service delivery throughout the region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the meeting featured a presentation by a team from the 24HR+ Economy Secretariat, alongside consultants from PPMC International Limited, on the proposed 24-Hour Market Programme. This initiative aims to modernize local markets across the Volta Region by introducing improved facilities such as lockable shops, Police posts, clinics, car parks, and efficient waste management systems to facilitate continuous trading and business operations.

Additionally, participants were presented with a new digital revenue mobilisation platform by OMNI Strategies, led by Mr. Abdul Rashid Baah. This platform is designed to improve financial transparency, reduce revenue leakages, and automate payment processes at the Assembly level, thereby enhancing local government revenue generation efforts.

Madam Victoria Naa Shika Quaye, CEO of Naaviq Company Limited, also presented her company's innovative solutions for sustainable water supply through borehole drilling, water treatment, and community-based systems. Mr. Gunu recognized that her proposal aligns with the regional agenda to provide safe, reliable, and affordable water access to every community in the Volta Region.

Mr. Gunu praised the MMDCEs and partners for their dedication and innovative ideas, underscoring the Volta Region's commitment to leveraging innovation and strategic partnerships to foster inclusive development under the 24-Hour Economy framework.
