Unknown Assailants Severely Attacked Herdsman in Central Tongu

Accra: A 27-year-old herdsman, Musa Yusif, was brutally attacked and severely injured by unknown men at his residence in Xevitoe, a community near Mafi-Aflavenu in the Central Tongu district: The incident occurred on March 23 at 0005 hours, while Yusif, his wife, and their two-year-old daughter were asleep.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Hogo, a cousin of the victim, recounted that Yusif was attacked by armed men who demanded the keys to his motorbike. Mr. Hogo narrated that the assailants shot at Yusif and wounded him with a machete, leading to severe injuries on his head and right hand, before fleeing with his Houjoue motorbike.

Mr. Hogo explained that Yusif had been asleep when the attackers knocked heavily on the door. The gunman demanded the motorbike keys, and upon Yusif's refusal, fired a warning shot. Yusif then attempted to wrestle the gun away, unaware of two other intruders who then attacked him with a machete until he fell unconscious.

Mr. Hogo received a call from his uncle, Mr. Abdulai Hogo, informing him about the attack. Despite neighbors' attempts to intervene, they were deterred by gunfire. Mr. Hogo transported Yusif to the Volta River Authority Hospital, later transferring him to the Ho Teaching Hospital for further treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

According to Mr. Hogo, Yusif is currently stable and undergoing medical treatment. The Police have confirmed the incident and are conducting investigations to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. They have urged residents to assist with any relevant information.

The attack has alarmed the community, with residents recalling a similar incident in the area two years ago. They are calling for increased security to prevent future occurrences.
