Traditional Leaders and Companies Forge Stronger Ties in Shama Municipality

Shama: The Shama Traditional Council has held a crucial stakeholder meeting to deepen collaboration between the Council and companies operating within the Shama Municipality. The meeting was chaired by Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV, the President of the Council, and saw the participation of chiefs, queen mothers, and representatives from key institutions, including Twyford Ghana Ceramic Factory, the Volta River Authority (VRA), local banks, Police Service, Fire Service, and Lands Commission.

According to Ghana News Agency, the discussions focused on corporate registration with the Council, participation in traditional activities, sponsorship management, corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance, employment opportunities for locals, and land acquisition procedures. Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV emphasized the significance of maintaining positive and cooperative relationships between enterprises in the area and the traditional council. The Council, he noted, serves as a vital link between companies and the community and stands ready to support businesses in addressing their challenges within its jurisdiction.

Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV encouraged open communication and mutual support to foster regional harmony and sustainable development in the Shama Municipality. He commended Twyford Ghana for its exemplary role in promoting local development and urged other enterprises to emulate the company's consistent support and cooperation with traditional authorities.

Mr. David Wei, Business Manager of Twyford Ghana Ceramics, highlighted the company's long-standing friendship with the Shama Traditional Council and reaffirmed their commitment to community development. He shared insights into the company's CSR initiatives, noting that the tiles adorning the Council's conference hall were donated by Twyford Ghana as part of its community support efforts. Mr. Wei also announced a donation of 40 sets of toilets to the Shama Traditional Council, a gesture warmly received by the chiefs and queen mothers. The Council expressed its profound gratitude to Twyford Ghana for its continuous contributions towards improving the welfare of the Shama community.
