Adaklu: Three pregnant girls are among 230 candidates writing the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at two centers in the Adaklu district. The examinations are being conducted at Adaklu Senior High School (SHS) at Adaklu Waya and Gbekor SHS at Adaklu Abuadi/Tsriefe.
According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Judith Makafui Kuagbonu, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Adaklu District Directorate of Education, provided this information during an interview at Adaklu Waya. The Adaklu Waya SHS center is hosting 182 candidates, comprising 66 boys and 116 girls, including the three pregnant candidates. Meanwhile, at the Gbekor SHS center, 48 candidates, equally divided between boys and girls, are sitting for the exams.
Ms. Kuagbonu confirmed there are no candidates with disabilities and reported full attendance with no absentee candidates. She urged the candidates to focus on their studies and heed the 'final tips' given by their teachers. Emphasizing the importance of discipline, she advised them to create and adhere to personal study timetables.
Furthermore, Ms. Kuagbonu encouraged the students to thoroughly read all WAEC general and specific instructions for each paper, preparing diligently for each examination. She also advised them to seek divine assistance throughout the exam period and discouraged reliance on unauthorized materials or answers, commonly known as 'appor.'
She reminded the candidates not to bring foreign materials, such as mobile phones, into the examination halls. Addressing the teachers, Ms. Kuagbonu warned against aiding the students during exams, emphasizing that any caught in malpractice would face consequences.
The 2025 WASSCE began on August 5th and is scheduled to conclude on September 19th.
