Suspected Criminal Arrested in Sunyani West Municipality for Stolen Items and Narcotics Possession

Sunyani: The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a suspected criminal at Buoku, near Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality. Suspect Evans Ameyaw, 25 years old, is presently in custody assisting police investigations, a statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeeleh, the Public Relations Officer at the Bono Regional Police Command stated.

According to Ghana News Agency, an intelligence-led operation conducted by a team from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) led to the arrest of the suspect on October 23, 2025. The police retrieved some stolen items including four motorbikes, two tricycles, and seven compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspect.

The operation followed receipt of credible information about the suspect's criminal activities, specifically dealing in the sale of stolen motorcycles and tricycles in the area. During interrogation, the suspect admitted collaborating with others to perpetrate the crime. A search by the police in his room led to the retrieval of the items and narcotics.

The statement emphasized that stringent efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the syndicate. The suspect is assisting the police in tracing the owners of the stolen properties, and he will be arraigned before court accordingly.
