Kumasi: A 21-year-old barber, who was said to have stolen someone's GHC6,000.00 at Apatrapa in the Kwadaso Municipality, has been granted GHC6,000.00 bail with one surety to be justified, by the same court. Gerrard Dwomo pleaded not guilty and will reappear before the Asante Akropong Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District on January 29, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, before the bail bond could be executed, the police will inspect the address, AP13-Apatrapa, provided by Dwomo to confirm its existence and his residence there. Police Chief Inspector Ruth Gborson identified Juliana Owusu Gyamfi as the complainant and a resident of Apatrapa.
Chief Gborson explained that on January 11, this year, at about 7:00 am, the complainant detected the theft of her GHC 6,000.00 cash from her handbag in front of her dressing mirror. She reviewed her doorbell camera footage and found that it had captured the accused stealing the money, leading her to report the incident to the Abuakwa police.
During police investigations, items such as a bracelet, waist bag, and ring that were seen on the accused in the camera footage were discovered in Dwomo's room. Although he denied the allegations in his caution statement, further investigations led to his charge and subsequent court appearance.
