Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has in accordance with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended, appointed Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG). A statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, confirmed the appointment and was copied to the Ghana News Agency.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs Asante-Asiedu is a Chartered Banker and a seasoned corporate leader, having served as Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC. Her academic credentials include an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School obtained in 2021, an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University in 2005, a diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism in 1997, and a diploma in Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin in 2000.
Mrs Asante-Asiedu is also recognized as a Chartered Executive Banker by CIB-Ghana, a designation she will officially acquire in 2024. Her professional development includes Executive Programmes at Said Business School at Oxford University in 2023, the Wharton School in 2015, and Marquette University’s Les Aspin Centre in 2003.
