Polls Close at John the Baptist Catholic Church Polling Station

Accra: Polls closed at 1700 hours Friday at the Baptist Catholic Church polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency. Nineteen polling stations are being contested after the Electoral Commission declared a rerun to finalize the overall election results.

According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, has recorded a marginal lead in the close contest. She polled a total of 74 votes out of 142 valid votes cast. Her contender, Ewurabena Aubynn of the NDC, polled 68 votes, with no ballots rejected.

The Electoral Commission will collate the results from the 19 polling stations at its Greater Accra Regional Office after the close of polls to complete the 281 polling station results, determining the winner for the Ablekuma North parliamentary election.
