Accra: A 40-year-old police officer, Sergeant Brown Kronkyie, stationed at the Duayaw-Nkwanta Police Station in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region, has allegedly shot himself.

According to Ghana News Agency, a police source at the station confirmed the incident, stating that Sergeant Kronkyie shot himself at the charge office while on duty. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, September 4, 2025, around 1730 hours. Following the event, the police have deposited the body at the Duayaw-Nkwanta St John of God Catholic Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

The source reported that the police discovered the body lying prostrate at the charge office, and it was confirmed that the deceased left behind a widow and two children.
