Okada Rider Stabbed to Death by Friend Over Motorbike

Amoaku: A 20-year-old okada rider has allegedly been stabbed to death by his friend with a pair of scissors at Amoaku, near Samreboi in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality. The suspect, identified as Jacob alias Jaybad, was alleged to have attempted to steal his pal's brand-new motorbike.

According to Ghana News Agency, eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred on Monday, May 5, 2025, around 20.00 hours. The suspect had asked the deceased, Kwofie, to transport him on his motorbike to Ohiapenika. After traveling a short distance from Amoaku, the suspect reportedly stabbed Kwofie from behind and ordered him to alight from the motorbike.

A struggle ensued between the two, during which the suspect overpowered Kwofie, resulting in his death. The suspect then fled towards Ohiapenika with the motorbike. Some local youth, who came across the suspect, prevented him from escaping with the bike, prompting him to seek refuge at the chief's palace.

The traditional leaders subsequently contacted the police to apprehend the suspect. However, some youth from Asuoshyime, where the deceased resided, resisted and demanded the police hand over the suspect to them. The situation escalated as the youth followed the suspect to the Samreboi police station, threatening to set the premises ablaze if their demand was not met.

In response, the police called for reinforcement, and upon arrival, they fired warning shots to disperse the crowd. The suspect was then transferred to the Asankrangwa Police Command for further investigations.
