Ohempon Dr Asiamah Institutes Clean-Up Campaign to Improve Sanitation at Atebubu

Atebubu: The Atebubu Traditional Council in the Bono East Region has instituted the 'Help Keep Atebubu Clean' campaign to improve sanitation in the area. The campaign, initiated by Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, the President of the Council, aims to provide dust and waste bins to achieve improved sanitation in the region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the council has established a sanitation committee, chaired by Oheneba Afriyie Addo, the Benkumhene (sub-chief), to oversee the distribution and use of the waste bins. During a brief ceremony at the Atebubu Piabre Palace, Oheneba Afriyie stated that Dr. Asiamah has procured quantities of dustbins and distribution was set to commence immediately.

Oheneba Afriyie urged the community to refrain from littering, emphasizing that with the availability of waste bins, there is no justification for discarding plastic materials and polythene bags improperly. He also clarified that the bins are not intended for household waste and warned against using them for such purposes.

Nana Owusu Aduomi, the Alantahene (sub-chief) of the council and Vice Chairman of the committee, who also runs a private sanitation firm, called on affluent individuals and corporate entities to support the Council's vision. Mr. Bismarck Oti, the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Environmental Health Officer, praised the paramount chief's initiative and encouraged community support.
