NHIA Warns Health Providers in Western North Against Illegal Fees

Sefwi bodi: Mr Frank Duku, the Western North Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has issued a warning to health service providers affiliated with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the region. He stressed the importance of refraining from imposing unauthorized charges on subscribers during their visits to healthcare facilities.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Duku's remarks were made during the 2025 mid-year performance review meeting organized by the Regional NHIA at Sefwi Bodi. He emphasized the NHIA's commitment to curbing illegal fee practices, stating that executive management has established measures to identify and penalize providers who violate these regulations.

Mr Duku urged NHIS district offices across the region to diligently monitor healthcare providers' activities and report any organizations that breach the guidelines. He also encouraged NHIS staff to continue their efforts in increasing membership and revenue collection in their respective districts by the end of the year.

During the meeting, Mr Duku proudly announced that the Western North region had been recognized as the third-best performer in the nationwide 2025 half-year review. The two-day event was attended by district staff, regional office management, and officers from across the region.
