NHIA to Build Ultra-Modern District Office in Kpone-Katamanso

Kpone: The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is set to build an ultra-modern district office in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality in the Greater Accra Region. Mr. Samuel Sowah Oblejumah, Greater Accra Regional Director of the NHIA, speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kpone during a site visit, declared the purpose was to inspect the parcel of land dedicated to the construction of the NHIA district office for the people of Kpone-Katamanso.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Oblejumah noted that all stakeholders have been duly informed, and the project is expected to commence within two weeks. He emphasized that both the contractor and the consultant have made the necessary preparations to ensure the project is executed within the stipulated period.

Mr. Joseph Akwerteh Tettey, Member of Parliament for the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency, hinted that the facility would enhance health services within the municipality. He pointed out that most constituents currently have to commute to other districts for health insurance registration or renewal, and the new district office would eliminate these inconveniences.

Mr. Tettey further stated that the project is expected to be completed within eight months. He emphasized that with Kpone-Katamanso being elevated to metropolitan status, it was crucial to establish such facilities to complement this elevation.

Mr. Samuel Tetteh Quashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive, welcomed the initiative to construct the facility in the municipality. He confirmed that all relevant documents for the demarcated land were ready and verified by traditional authorities, ensuring there would be no litigation regarding the land for the NHIA district office in Kpone.

The Ghana News Agency observed that a team from the regional office of the NHIA and officers from the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly visited the site before the anticipated commencement of the project in two weeks.
